WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will manage Brands, Product, Technology Communications for GM Canada.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications this role requires leadership and collaboration with stakeholders to develop and execute strategies that promote our brand, products and technology with the media and generate positive third party endorsement across all key media channels.
The position will include frequent, highly customer-focused interactions with Canada’s traditional and non-traditional media including automotive, lifestyle, consumer, technology and social media influencers/bloggers.
AREAS YOU WILL MANAGE:
Brand, Product and Technology Communications
Solicit and pitch media/influencer community for story ideas, editorial, broadcast, social bloggers, to build brand engagement and positive 3rd party endorsement
Manage profile building opportunities (panels, speaking opportunities, symposiums, conferences, etc.) to build reputation and advance product, brand, technology and corporate pillars.
Provide GM product, brand and technology information to media and entertain interviews on request.
Assist with GM Canada national media fleet strategy and execution. Coordinate vehicle order process, registration, tracking and logistics for PR media vehicle fleet across Canada and assist in media loan scheduling.
Develop activity reports for internal reporting requirements.
Provide creative, logistical and on-site support for the development and execution of a variety of media events.
Serve as a national spokesperson on product, brand and technology issues and topics. Host media at various PR events in Canada & U.S.
Responsible adhering to budget requirements
Support the product, brand and technology PR team in the day-to-day administration of PR activities, projects, events.
Support team members from the corporate communication team with executions as needed.
5+ yrs Experience in a professional communication role
Knowledge and working relationships with national media landscape and its various platforms– print, broadcast, trade, social, automotive, influencer, business, consumer, lifestyle, technology, environmental, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience as a media spokesperson – bilingual is preferred, not a requirement
Demonstrates strong customer-focus and relationship building approach
Ability to work with several stakeholders both internal and external
Able to handle conflicting priorities and tight deadlines in a lean, agile work environment
University degree or equivalent education
Relevant public relations and communications and work experience
