Framatome is seeking a Chemical Project Engineer for our office in Pickering Ontario.
Typically assigned to plant chemistry and material degradation related activities on components and systems in a nuclear power generating station.
Overseeing the development of required technical procedures and work packages is part of the project work.
Drives to the development of solutions to customer’s needs.
Oversees and provides guidance during the preparation of procedures for new approaches and innovations.
Assumes leadership on projects and ensures requirements, deadlines, budgets are met.
Develops technical proposals in response to customer inquiries.
Develops strong working relationship with chemistry experts in other entities of the company.
Under minor supervision, responsible for providing technical support and advice in analyzing and evaluating plant or field systems and equipment. Provides resolution to complex technical or engineering-related problems. May work in a variety of technical areas associated with power plant water chemistry. Reviews progress and updates management, as needed.
Ensures effective performance of technical assignments.
Plans and directs the timely execution of technical activities, as assigned.
Ensures projects, initiatives, and processes comply with established policies, objectives and customer standards.
Ensures adherence to government, organization and customer standards and procedures.
Provides technical guidance to others in the identification and resolution of problems.
Works interactively with customers and clients to develop strong relationships.
Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements, performs R&D initiatives.
Works on special projects in the field of power plant water chemistry.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
BS in Chemical Engineering, plus 7-10 years of engineering experience.
Four (4) years of related chemical process engineering or chemistry experience.
Has work experience in the field of plant chemistry in power generation plants (nuclear or fossil).
Very good knowledge of Chemistry operation of water/steam cycles in either fossil or nuclear power plants
Is familiar with typical material degradation mechanisms that occur in power generating stations.
Experienced in chemical analytics (photometric determination methods, titration, Ion Chromatography, etc.)
Fundamental understanding of interaction between Chemistry treatment of water/steam cycles and degradation phenomena of structural materials of water/steam cycles components, especially with certain types of corrosion phenomena.
Capabilities to perform chemical analytical tasks in the customer’s on-site laboratories during project performance; this is linked to a professional experience in several laboratory techniques (photometric determination methods, titration, Ion Chromatography etc.)
Team player with strong safety and quality conscious work ethics. Is very detail oriented.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
Advanced knowledge of related technical standards, techniques and criteria.
Demonstrated leadership ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
Strong analytical ability and problem identification/problem resolution skills
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position:
Experience working in Candu Nuclear Plants would be beneficial, but not a must,
French, Spanish or German language skills would be beneficial.
Travel: (25%) Sporadic domestic and international travel.
