How your role will add to the story:
In your role as Bilingual Manager, Corporate Communications, you will help us develop and execute strategies that will create and uphold a positive public image for Mercedes-Benz Canada. You will be responsible for internal and external communications for all our brands & divisions. You will craft and implement relevant communication that raise awareness of our mission & values through compelling positioning, messaging, and Executive thought leadership while forging very strong relations with the media. From approving press releases & speeches to crisis management, briefing Executives, media training, you will be responsible for every facet of communication within the organization as well as being the key spokesperson for the company. You will work very closely with the CEO to ensure that he is briefed on a plethora of hot topics and has the background and facts to be able to adequately face a broad cross-section of stakeholders at all times.

A day in the life:

COM/PR Strategy development
• Strategize and plan overall external and internal communication for the year
• Oversee execution of communications strategies and programs across lines of business and geographies to ensure alignment with Management's and company's goals and objectives

Support CEO and his office
• Keep CEO informed about company, industry, politically relevant news and hot topics
• Advise on the most effective communications strategies, and use of resources to meet key business and reputation needs and priorities
• Media training and recommendations
• Oversee preparation of remarks, speeches, formulate responses and provide information to answer media inquiries

Crisis Management
• Identify and mitigate risks and concerns that could negatively influence the company's business and reputation.
• In case of issues and crises, work with the various local and global parties to define and execute communications strategies to defend and protect the brand’s reputation
• Oversee monitoring of social and media chatter and elevate to key stakeholders for the brand if and when action is required

Travel
• Attend various auto shows in Canada, US and Europe, short and long lead press events in Canada, US and overseas, global conferences, product launches, all other PR-related programs and events
• Represent Mercedes-Benz Canada and/or accompany CEO to certain corporate business functions

Media Relations & Content Creation
• Establish effective media strategies with the goal of driving earned media value
• Explore, identify and build relationships with media and influencers in Canada
• Investigate and identify opportunities to promote and build positioning of brands
• Oversee assistance of media opportunities by facilitating interviews with various experts

Mercedes-Benz Fan skills, requirements & traits:
• Post-secondary diploma/degree with a concentration in Communications and Public Relations, Business Management, Marketing, or equivalent experience
• A minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Leadership or Management role with the ability to lead a small team
• Proven successful experience in delivering communication and public relations strategies and being able to manage crisis management
• Strong communications and written skills
• Ability to travel with a flexible schedule
• Ability to conduct business in French is a must
• Ability to conduct business in German is an asset
• Mercedes-Benz product knowledge would be an asset
